Martial Sciences, Arms, Armor, Weapons 

Because military activities played an important part in the daily life of the middle ages, all candidates must have basic knowledge of methods and materials. To demonstrate knowledge of the science of war, the candidate shall: 

• Identify and provide an overview of the types of SCA combat 
• Differentiate between wars and tourneys 
• Identify parts of armor generally used in SCA combat. Bonus points for persona-specific knowledge. 
• Identify types of weapons generally used in SCA combat. Bonus points for persona-specific knowledge. 

Tourneys and Lists 

The SCA engages in martial activities across several disciplines and formats. It’s important to have a basic understanding of the purpose and basic oversight of various tourney types.  

• Identify different types of tourneys SCA combatants can participate in 
• Know and discuss the rules of the lists. 
• Serve as listkeeper at Baronial or Kingdom event. 

Martial Demo 

All candidates must be sufficiently knowledgeable in the martial sciences, including both wars and tourneys, as well as the rules of the list, to serve as emcee to the general public during a demo.
