Words from the Seneschal: Our Customary has still not been approved – will reach out to the new Kingdom Seneschal and Deputy.
Exchequer: Fighters donations have been deposited. Check for Kapka is written.
All Officers of the Barony please turn in your expected budget for the 2026. If anyone has receipts for reimbursement, please fill out the Expense Reimbursement Check Request (downloadable from the website at: https://baronyofmadrone.net/business-and-administration/forms-and-waivers/) and email it and the receipt to madrone.exchequer@antir <dot> org
Arts & Sciences: Knife sheath making class went very well
Chatelaine: Will be stepping down the first of the year and step up into the position of Kingdom Chatelaine. Current deputy has moved out of the Barony, so will not be able to step up into the position of Baronial Chatelaine. A new deputy is now sought.
Armored Combat: Practice goes well and are well attended.
Rapier & Cut & Thrust: Attendance is down a little but was very well represented at Autumn war. Tourney prize was taken by Constantine.
Chamberlain: We have stuff. All items used for Autumn war has been returned.
Herald: Voice Heralded the procession and first court of new Baron & Baroness. No emails / book heraldry going on right now.
Scribe: Scribal nights are going well. Aquaterra is coming down for the 1st Wednesday nights at 3rd Place Commons. Will be creating new charters for new Baron & Baroness – volunteers welcome.
Social Media: Emma has volunteered to do shorts reels/videos for publishing on social media and website. 7 new members on Facebook, 10 on discord.
Webster: All going well. Much updating. In progress: reorganizing menus and consolidating pages to improve navigation by all users with a focus on smartphone users’ accessibility
Chronicler: Nothing to report. Still seeking deputy.
Words from the PdL Seneschal: You are invited to the PdL Curia on 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Our event next year will likely be “Sven in the Park.”
Sergeantry:
Autumn War featuring Emprise of the Black Lion
- Many thanks to Sergeant Nicklaß for organizing the Madrone encampment
- Candidate Bear Far-Wanderer taught: a class at the war: How Best to Document Events with Photography and had a handful of student attend.
- Candidate Nathanael Lekarev became Blatha an Oir’s new Thrown Weapons Champion
Banner War
- Vivant of Madrone won popular choice at Banner War for their 1530s German woodblock re-creation presentation
Dance: Dance practice attendance is recovering, with 7 attendees at Canton practice (tying the highest attendance in 2025) and 6 attending Baronial practice (a new high for 2025)
Dancers and dance instructors from Madrone participated in dancing at Autumn War featuring Emprise, where afternoon classes were attended by as many as 10 dancers, and evening dancing with the live band had about 16 dancers participating.
Culinary Guild: Site walk for Baronial Banquet, Pre-registration is open, menu has been posted.
Equestrian: It was a very busy and successful 20th Emprise. See event report.
Socials: The next social at Kapka on the 1st Monday of October will be a project night hosted by our Chatelaine Medea
Events:
Autumn War & Emprise of the Black Lion went very well with many Madronans representing on the war field and Emprise. Very successful 20th Emprise with no injuries, 14 horses and 40 participants. Madrone pavilion was in a good position on the berm and the equestrian social and shrine event were held there.
Many thanks to everyone who made this possible: riders, judges, marshals, instructors, sponsors, ground crew, and support staff.
Baronial Banquet (November 1st): A secondary room might be available for our use. Menu has been published and pre-registration opened. At this time, we have 38 signed up.
Madrone Yule (December 13th): New site found – Fauntleroy UCC https://www.fauntleroyucc.org/ and updated budget presented. 2nd approval. Baroness has requested “Ugly Tunic (Sweater)” fun to add to the festivities.
Rogue’s Tavern (February 2026): 2nd approval. Site will not look at their 2026 calendar until December. Date can be moved back if February 21 is not available.
Colloquium/Spring Event (April 11, 2026): Still up for bids/proposals
New Business:
Buy-a-life fundraising armored tournament proposed for late July 2026 or 2027 to benefit Northwest Sarcoma Foundation at St. Edwards Park. Also suggested, combine Lionhearts (May 30 2026) into this event. There is general support, but more information will be needed and will be presented at another Curia.
