Agenda for April 25 2023 Curia

Curia was chaired by Baronial Chronicler Eden of Lionsguard in the absence of Seneschal Ynesen Ongge Xon Kerij-e. Minutes taken by Chronicler applicant Rowena Jade of the Lion isles

All officers sent word that quarterly reports were in progress/final process.

Words from Their Excellencies – Barunin Gera Gangolffin and Barun Christopher MacEveny

Madrone was well represented at the recent Baronesses War.

Heartfelt thanks to all that helped with largesse.

Project Day at Haus des Baruns und der Barunin – 2nd Friday in June (details forthcoming closer to the date)

Progress: Lionhearts, May Crown (there will be a tri-baronial encampment), Athenaeum, July Coronation, September Crown.

Baronial Officers

Exchequer  – Etiennette de Montagne

[bank balances were reported as usual. Per SCA policy they are not published here, but available by request to any member.] 

Monies expended: $2,143.++ for purchase of the new Baronial pavilion as approved.

Deposits for various events made.

Reimbursement for Rogue’s Tavern is still outstanding – pending reimbursement request.

Of note: The cost of rental for the storage unit has increased by about 4%, with part of the increase being a $2/month increase in the insurance cost. The Annual fee is due June 1st in the amount of $1,722.

Chatelaine – Tabytha Morgan

No new folks/contacts since last report, but expect that Lionhearts will bring in fresh interest and newcomers.

Chamberlain – Enzio Bandinelli

Coordination is happening/well in hand for Lionhearts

Herald – Simon Fisc

Kingdom College of Heralds will host a fundraiser at May Crown. Various heraldic items such as AnTir Populace Badges will be sold. Purpose – to allow them to take PayPal payments (offset of equipment and fees) for submissions.

Armored Combat – Nicklaß Volkhart

Look forward to moving to the park once it remains light until 9pm in the evening.

Rapier Marshal – Temetgen de Worde

Interest increases and attendance improves at Monday night practice at the Kapka School in Seattle. The Gym is actually getting a bit crowded.

Reminder that warrant is expiring, and is looking to step down.  Anyone with interest should reach out to her and/or the Barony.

Scribe –Kate MacKim

Baronial scribe position is open. Requirements: someone who can build the community, coordinate having awards created and classes taught. Being a calligrapher / illumination artist is a bonus.

Social Mediator – Basilius Fuchs

Added 3 newcomers to the FaceBook group

Still seeking advice on ways to be more social media savvy eg. building interest on TikTok etc.


Webster – Rowenna de Manning

Website is up and there are no issues.

Guild/Activities/Sergeantry

Culinary Guild – Ysolt Tayler of Windhill

Interest has revived and there is much activity on the FaceBook group

Dance –Trahaern ap Ieuan

We now have two dance practices, one on 3rd Mondays (Baronial Social) at the Kapka School in Seattle (upstairs from fight practice) and the other at the home of Master Trahearn in Kirkland on the 1st Thursday of the month.

Equestrian – Anissa Gabrielli

Insurance costs have increased again and will impact both practice and events.


Events and Socials

Lionhearts Martial Championships – May 6th Barun Kit

MICs (Marshalls in Charge) have been found/appointed for both heavy and Rapier/Cut and Thrust. The event is at Crossroads Park and is free. Sign up for demonstrators/teachers are still open.

 Athenaeum  – June 24 – Spike

Expected attrition rate of 10%, signup is still open for exhibitors.

Peasants Revel – July 8 – Culinary Guild

The availability of dinner has yet to be decided. There will be cheese.

Other Business

Rowena Jade of the Lion Isles accepted as new Chronicler through a poll of the officers present.
