Sven’s Porte de L’Eau Picnic:

Kudos to PDL, Simon, and the Porte Chalice recipients Etiennette and Christopher

Largesse

They have a new Largesse coordinator Bianca di Baldesarre Saturnio,

They have a need for handmade gifts from Madronans to add to their Largesse that they gift to the crown & other groups to spread the fame of Madrone & its artisants. Largesse does NOT need to come in dozens!

Newcomers gifts:

Their Excellencies would like to be able to give a gift to acknowledge newcomers when they come to Baronial events.  They are looking for Ideas: Cup and a Cap, like the Kingdom does? Pouch & plate? A cup and a pouch? Will ask online for more input.

• Words from the Seneschal (deputy) –
Kerij-e is mostly offline, through the 29th so Eden is acting.  You can continue to contact the Seneschal’s office thru the Facebook and Email.  Eden will attend to any urgent matters.

COVID is increasing so be considerate, mask, and look for cancellations. Kingdom calendar is not always reliable. [There was a positive COVID test after the PdL picnic.]

210 people through the gate, including 60 laurels. Some had not been involved for some time. 4 youth, and 30 non-members, many of whom were lapsed members due to COVID.

Lunch had 90 presold, and maybe another 10 sold onsite, once the guild knew they had spares

•  Discussion of 2023 and 2024 events –

There was a lengthy discussion of our Event plans for next year & going forward. We talked about the need to lighten both the volunteer workload and the calendar, what our priorities are, what we can be flexible with etc. We agreed that Emprise & Banquet could take turns – with each event held in alternate years. Athenaeum was determined to need the continuity of being held every year. Championship competitions were agreed to be negotiable, but having an event welcoming to new fighters is important, so Lionhearts will continue in some form, possibly returning to its roots as a tournament or even a camping event, TBD.

This leaves us with the following plan: Lionhearts in May (format TBD), Athenaeum in June, The Culinary Guild holding Peasants Revel in July, and Banquet/Emprise alternating in the Fall, allowing room in the Winter for impromptu fun events like the Tavern or Yule or ____? And of course a Porte de L’Eau event at their convenience.
