CURIA MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 2024

 September 2024 Madrone Curia (Held October 1st, 2024)

Words from their Excellencies: Autumn War & Emprise went very, very well. Many thanks to the Emprise staff and all who helped.

Progress: Rose and Thorn Symposium, Demo on Oct 19th – if it works out.

Spring Colloquium – March 22, 2025 – Seeking bids – Due by October Curia

Lionhearts in the Park – May 31, 2025 – Seeking bids – Due by December Curia

Words from the Porte de L’eau Seneschal: Yule planning is moving along well. PdL will be putting in a bid for May Crown

Exchequer: Officers who have not turned in their budgets, please do so before November when we will be having our Financial Committee Meeting.

A&S: Classes were taught at Autumn War/Emprise. Some Barony members will be teaching at Wastekeep Collegium. Gareth and Matilda were called up for Vigil for Laurel at Autum War.

Chatelaine: More information about the Demo at the Swedish club on October 19th will be upcoming. Decision will be made by Chatelaine, BnB & Seneschal if it will be an appropriate event for us.

Armed Combat: Good practices, no injuries, new faces, new code for door at Kapka has been received.

Rapier & Cut & Thrust: Lots of people coming out for practice, both at Kapka and Thursday nights on the Eastside.

Chamberlain: Signs and tables were brought to Emprise and back to storage. 

Scribal: Several award scrolls were given out at Autumn War/Emprise. New person came to North meeting at Forest Park. Many repeat folks dropping in at both North and South meetings.

Social Media: 2 new members added to the Facebook group. Clean out of spammers. Curia meetings are being announced on Discord

Webminister: WordPress apps updated, website updated with latest information including Yule Event, updated Baronial calendar, new photos of Baron & Baroness. Budget turned in to Exchequer.

GUILDS/ACTIVITIES/SERGEANTRY

  • Sergeants: At September Crown, sergeants and candidates were very busy:
    • Yeoman Simon and Courtier Margaret supported lists and Margaret also took part in the Kingdom Protector Tournament.
    • Candidate  Nathanael (Phil) took part in a number of thrown weapons activities
  • At Autumn War our Lancer Candidate Valerien (Val) and our Sergeant candidate Nicklaß (Nick) both passed their prowess tests demonstrating amazing skill!
  • Gallant/Courtier Kate had a wonderful time participating in the melees at Border War
  • Gallant Mecia created a blog to share and document her A+S endeavors: Mecia577’s Blog

Coming up: 

  • Updates to sergeants and candidates resumes/wiki pages continues and candidate continue work on their quests.

Culinary: Cooks guild equipment has been consolidated at Baron Aeron Corrino who kindly offered storage space in their home.

Dance: There will be dance instruction at Yule in the afternoon and a ball in the evening. Practice continues at the Madrone Baronial Social site at KapKa Cooperative School, dance in the meeting space upstairs from the heavy/rapier practice in the gym starting at 7 PM every third Monday of the month.

Equestrian: Baroness Anissa is our new equestrian champion – huzzah!

Socials Upstairs at Kapka School:

Monday October 7th– Guilds and Groups activity night, run by Keri-je

Events:

Emprise: Emprise went very well. No incidents. 14 horses participated. We made a profit.

Rapier Tourney – 14 entrants, 9 in melee

Yule: Yule will be the Canton of PdL’s official event – December 7th 2024. A day of music, dance and games with Potluck feast and A&S championships at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue. There will be a bread baking competition sponsored by the incipient Bakers Guild, an equipment swap, and a ball in the evening. Event will be free, but donations are welcome.

Rogues Tavern: February 8th 2025. Vasa Hall has provided new fees – $50 higher. New budget submitted. Event approved.

Online Athenaeum will be discussed at the next Curia.
