Minutes of the Madrone Curia May 28th 2025
Words from their Excellencies:
Progress: Lionhearts, June Faire, Athenaeum, July Coronation, An Tir West War, Autumn War/Emprise, September Crown
Regalia: Making of new regalia is moving along but any additional help will be welcome. We are still seeking a Regalia Coordinator for the Barony
Words from the Seneschal: The Customary has been re-sent to Kingdom and we await feedback/input/approval.
Words from PdL Seneschal: May Crown went well, Canton is running along well.
Exchequer:
- Exchequer Training (taught by Etieniette) went very well. There were 18 attendees. Feedback received – went very well. We need more please.
- Warrant expires November 2025. We have 2 applicants!
Arts & Sciences:
- Quarterly Report to Kingdom mostly about Emerald City Comic Con Demo.
- Many thanks to those who did art for peerage elevations.
- Online Athenaeum site is down again. The site is hosted on Kingdom which is also down.
Armored Combat:
- Moving to the park across from Kapka next week.
- Had 3 new fighters in armor at practice
- Loaner kit system is honor based, no inventory system or check-in and out currently, BUT will make inventory list of loaner gear. Suggest that pieces such as helmets and shields should be tracked.
- Seeking a deputy.
Rapier & Cut-n-Thrust:
- Rapier is doing well but Cut-n-Thrust, not so much.
- Last Monday of the month are designated Cut-n-Thrust nights to encourage more to show up.
Chatelaine:
- Since the Ren Faire is in Snohomish County, the Barony of Aquaterra has stepped up to be the main hosting barony of our SCA demo there.
- The demo space is a pavilion-shaded, 30×30 ‘guild yard’ space + free admission + free camping for the weekends of July 26-27, Aug 2-3, & Aug 9-10.
- If anyone would like to participate, please contact Medea, Linara, Torgrimm, or Michael Todd.
- A deputy has been identified.
Herald: No new submissions, but several consulted at the Heralds point at May Crown. Will keep an eye on the notifications.
Scribal:
- Scribal nights are going well and very well attended.
- On top of everything. Charters are ready for Lionhearts and Athenaeum.
Social Media:
- 14 new members on discord, 9 on Facebook and 2 on the email list
- Have been making sure that information posted on one platform is mirrored on the others.
Webster: Keeping up with information and augmenting events as information becomes available.
Chronicler: Warrant expires May 2025. Still seeking a successor for the position.
Sergeantry:
- Basilius was elevated to Pelican at Crown, but will continue Captaincy of Madrone Sergeants
- Many hands came together to assist with pavilion setup and tear down at May Crown (thank you!)
- Val was Equestrian MIC at May Crown and accomplished becoming a senior equestrian marshal.
Culinary Guild: Meeting next week at Tristin Taylor Sablerose’s. Please contact for address if you are interested in attending.
Dance: Attendance has been a little light.
Equestrian Guild:
- Getting ready for Emprise in Autumn
- Practices over the summer – jousting, games, etc.
- May practice – 7 new people, and 6 have authorized as ground crew.
Socials:
June socials at Kapka – no formal socials planned, just hanging out and doing projects
Events:
- May Crown happened! 590 through gate.
- Lionhearts (May 31, 2025) Setup starts at 8am. Volunteers needed for setup and break down as the site is an open field and there will be many pavilions and popups to help with.
- Athenaeum (Jun 28, 2025) – Pre-registration and order for lunch is open : Need volunteers for set up and break down.
- Peasants Revel (Aug 9, 2025) – 2nd presentation – passed by officers & members in attendance.
- Emprise / Autumn War (Sep 11 – 14, 2025) – Equestrian Guild is working on it and will identify liaison & MIC
