Exchequer:
Kingdom has released the last quarter (Sep 1 to Dec 31, 2023) PayPal donations.` Just in time as the Annual fee for the Baronial storage unit is coming up in May.
A Financial Committee meeting is still to be done.
Reminder: Warrant is up November 2024, and currently, a deputy is sought to be trained into the position.
Arts & Sciences – Rotrude Halfblind
Two members of the Barony participated in Kingdom A&S and both attained Scholar of AnTir – Huzzah to Mecia Raposa and Rowena Jade of the Lion Isles
Hat making class at the ECCC run by Tanayle was in such demand the queue ran around the room.
Spring Colloquium held in March was A&S based and went very well.
Rotrude ran a class on making egg tempera paint.
Future Plans – Leatherworking workshop/demo at Emprise of the Black Lion
Chatelaine – Medea
There were 8K attendees at ECCC and over 30 Volunteers from various groups in the area. The SCA ran an interactive booth with dance, music and classes. The Codex QR (Book of QR Codes) was very popular.
Armored Combat – Nicklaß Volkhart
Practices are well attended. No injuries. Beginning to outgrow the space as we often have 50+ fighters come for practice. A conversation / survey to explore options will be started and data gathered.
Rapier & Cut-and-Thrust – Temetgne
Fencing continues, no injuries. Practice is averaging 30-35 people.
Chamberlain – Enzio Bandinelli
All in order. All equipment taken out for ECCC and Colloquium have been retrieved and re-stored.
Herald – Simon Fisc / Scribe – Eulalia
Herald: Taught a Heraldry class @ Colloquium
A Baronial Herald is still being sought. Simon will train any interested in the position. The Baronial Herald is an administrative position. The Herald is not expected to, and indeed it is not recommended that the Herald does it all. Baronial Herald does not need to be a Court/Voice Herald nor a Heraldry consultant.
Scribe: Twice a month Wednesday scribal meetings regularly draw 4 – 6 participants.
A pair of scribal-related classes at Colloquium: egg tempera by Rotrude and calligraphy workshop – secretary hand by Brighid, and both went well. A scribal table was continually running in the social room at Colloquium, and we had people pop in and out to paint, do calligraphy, and discuss art.
Preparations for Lionhearts — custom scroll requests for champions are all with their artists. Working on getting the stable of completed charters up as well, focusing on the martial awards. Planning to be available to run a scribal table at Lionhearts, weather permitting.

GUILDS/ACTIVITIES/SERGEANTRY
Sergeantry – Basilius Fuchs
Our candidates continue progressing through their quest books. The Madrone sergeantry was very active in March!
Queen’s Rapier Championship and Kingdom Arts and Science Championship
Mecia competed for Kingdom A+S (she was awarded scholar of An Tir for earning at 80 on one of her entries). Kate, Basilius, Margaret helped support running QRC (With Tayla running lists).
Emerald City Comic Con – Tabby and Simon represented our Barony and spoke with visitors to the Barony’s booth at Emerald City Comic Con Tabby taught a hand sewing 6-panel hats class.
Oasis War – Mecia ran a Cut and Thrust class and authorized new marshals and fighters.
Colloquium – Simon taught a heraldry class. Margaret taught a class with Baroness Aline about the OP and award recommendations, and also was site liaison.
Reminder: Lieutenant positions are open and current Sergeants are encouraged to apply.
Culinary Guild – Ysolt
Wednesday meetings are back up and running. Guild will do a lunch for Athenaeum (June) and a display for Lionhearts. Peasants is being discussed and a site with a hill for cheese rolling and more parking sought.
Dance – Trahaern ap Leuan
1st Thursdays in PDL, 3rd Mondays at Kapka
Equestrian – Kerij-e
Practice happened on April 13th. There were 6 horses and 10 people, some which were new folk.
Socials/Events:
Emerald City Comic Con Demo – Feb 29 – Mar 3
Successful event – will participate again in 2025.
March 16, 2024 – Spring Colloquium at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue
There were 6- attendees: 48 adults, 2 under 18. 12 were non-members. Donations of $328 received which covered all expenses with $50+ to go back into the Baronial coffers.
May 4, 2024 – Lionhearts at Crossroads Park in Bellevue
Crier Copy sent in. Insurance copy confirmed received by Bellevue. Volunteers for set-up / tear-down and kids activities are being sought.
June 29, 2024 – Athenaeum at Lake Washington High in Kirkland
Full 50 exhibitors have signed up. There is also a reserve/wait list and there are usually a few dropouts.
July 13, 2024 – Peasants is on the calendar. Please check your local neighborhood parks for suitability. Main criteria – toilets, ADA accessibility, hill for cheese rolling, parking.
September 12 – 15, 2024 – Emprise of the Black Lion at Autumn War in Tenino
Event staff are meeting regularly via Zoom. All projected expenses look to remain the same as budgeted. There will be another site walk-through in June.
December 7, 2024 – Tri-Baronial Yule is not happening – but we have the date if anyone wishes to propose an event.
Our hobby is run by volunteers and several Officer warrants expire this year. Please check https://baronyofmadrone.net/officers/ to see what needs there are and step up to help! Current officers will train deputies.
