CURIA MINUTES – JUNE 24, 2025

Minutes of the Madrone Curia – June 24th 2025

Words from their Excellencies: The Crown has approved of our stepping down and our successors installed at Emprise of the Black Lion at Autumn War in September.

Largesse is needed for gifting to other baronies / kingdoms, that showcase the work of Madrone artisans.

Progress: Athenaeum, An Tir West War, July Coronation, Autumn War/Emprise, September Crown

Words from the Seneschal:

  • Still waiting for Kingdom to approve our Customary.
  • Schedule & process for selection of next coronets will be published via email, and on Facebook and Discord. Polling is August 12th to 15th – please create an account on antir.org to participate in the polling.

Exchequer:

  • Check for annual rent for storage facility will go out once we have our 2nd signer.
  • We have a deputy! Lady Melrakki!

Chatelaine: We will not be doing a demo with the Renn Faire, but with WorldCon in August

Armored Combat:

  • We had 4 fighters at June Faire and did very well in the war scenarios.
  • We have a deputy! Lord Yosef! Who will be training for his Sr. Marshallate.

Rapier & Cut-n-Thrust: 

  • We had a spear practice which went very well.
  • Many Madrone participants in June Faire Rapier & Cut-n-Thrust
  • A Madronan is the new Dragon’s Laire Champion.

Chamberlain:

  • Requests received for Athenaeum and Peasants Revel.
  • Repair of grommets on Baronial pavilion is needed will be done. Tools have been acquired. Commercial repair is very expensive

Herald:  Work on Athenaeum ceremonial is done.

Scribal:

  • Splitting responsibilities between Eulalia and Emil.
  • Inventory of charters/blanks being done. Keeping mind that new BnB may have new requirements / refresh of charter text.
  • Award scrolls for Athenaeum done, getting ready for Emprise.

Social Media: 9 new members added to Facebook group, 10 to Discord server

Webster: Keeping the website updated. New champions are up.

Chronicler: Still seeking a deputy/successor.

Words from the Porte d’leau Seneschal: The group is still moving along although attendance was light at the last meeting.

Sergeantry:

  • Sergeants have been busy. Many hands helped set up and breakdown at Lionhearts, and helped with lunch.
  • Basilius jumped in to take care of lists for Armored Combat Championships
  • Many hands came together to help with setting up & breaking down Baronial pavilion at June Faire.
  • We will do a group photo at Athenaeum

Dance: 

  • Attendance has rebounded at recent practices. 4 dancers attended the most recent Canton practice and the most recent Baronial practice (up from 1-2 attendees at April and May practices).
  • The next Canton dance practice will be on July 3. The next Baronial practice will be on July 21.

Equestrian:        

  • Practice at the end of the month.
  • Kerij-e will MiC Emprise and will have several Jr. Marshals helping.

Socials:

  • 1st Monday in July will likely be lightly attended as many return from An Tir West War the Sunday before. Isentrud has volunteered to lead a casual “do stuff and hang out” evening.
  • 1st Monday in August, BnB will be out of the country.

Events:

  • Lionhearts/Day of Archery – went very well for a joint event. We like the site and will be open to do a joint event again next year if both baronies agree.
  • Feedback:
    • The low cost of the event which included lunch and laid-back nature of the event attracted more participants than anticipated.
    • Appreciation of the provision of gluten-free items for lunch.
    • We should plan for 2 erics next year, given the increase in rapier & cut-n-thrust fighters
    • We will have to plan better for the mowing/raking/maintenance of the field if we do it again.
  • Athenaeum (Jun 28, 2025) – LWHS Need volunteers for set up (Friday, 2 – 6pm) and break down. Retinue for BnB and also Crowns.
  • Peasants Revel (Aug 9, 2025) – Spirit Ridge Park. No cheese rolling. Other silly games with cheese will be played. Culinary guild will provide a light lunch.
  • Emprise / Autumn War (Sep 11 – 14, 2025) – Kerij-e will be MiC. Gera offered to be official Barony liaison. Site walk planned end June/early July
  • Baronial Banquet (Nov 1, 2025) – Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Shoreline. 2nd presentation. Approved by all officers and members in attendance. There will be pre-registration for this event

New Business

Medea has applied for and accepted as the next Kingdom Chatelaine. Deputy Linara will step-up as Chatelaine. Changeover at 12th Night, 2026.
