Words from their Excellencies: Next weekend Rogue’s Tavern, Kingdom AS, May Crown, Atheneum, possibly An Tir west war. B&B had Tremendous amount of help at Ursulmas. Thanks so much. It created space for them to be available and ready for chatting to new folks and others that they may have not been able to connect with otherwise. Words from the Seneschal: Church we’ve used in the past requires named insurance; question was whether we should we buy the insurance for a year in advance to share with PDL? Same cost to do it for a year as just one Saturday so the appeal is there. Consensus was to accept PdL’s offer to pay for the full year’s insurance.
Words from the PdL Seneschal: Things are coming along, curia is rescheduled for tomorrow Jan 28th, had a first official May crown meeting went well, but we have a few open positions still for May crown event team
OFFICER REPORTS
Exchequer: PO Box, Web minister, Fight Practice, Tabard (all paid). Curia was updated on balances for accounts.
Financial planning meeting due in February. 4th quarter report sent. If anyone is interested in becoming exchequer please make that decision pronto as Etiennette turns into a pumpkin in November. Lots of training available! Recommend your friends! Do you have experience with spreadsheets? Apply!
Herald: Tam Cau Jyun Zyu (Heraldsbane) applied for the position and letter has been submitted and posted online. Curia accepted new Herald, documentation in chat history
A&S: Thanks to the local folks who participated in the 12night A&S activities, and shout out to the baronial hospitality team, everyone is gearing up for Rogue’s Tavern. Working on quarterly report and will be submitted soon. Kingdom A/S site announced and all are encouraged to attend and enter. Term is coming to a close in September and willing to renew.
Chatelaine: Emerald City Comic Con is coming up (March 6th-9th) and we are slowly getting more information from their event team. It unfortunately once again conflicts with Kingdom A&S, but a fantastic opportunity not to be missed so people can volunteer for it. Reach out to Kerij-e or Medea. Especially if you have ideas for classes or demos. Maybe an SCA meet-up will happen there. More signage for summer events needed however lots of contact cards are available to let her know if you want contact cards or posters/hand outs while you’re out and about doing interesting things that you can give to others that might help bring them to our game.
Armored Combat: No news at this time, good turn out to fight practice and lots of heavy fighters at Ursulmas.
Rapier/Cut n Thrust: Rapier going great, new people coming in all the time, Ursulmas was very good, more steel than you can eat in a lifetime. Some interest in a self defense class lots to work out on that end. Logistics,etc more details if possible. Rapier email is up and running. Possibility of a few items of loaner guild being financed details and proposals need to be worked out.
Chamberlain: Does Rouge tavern need things from the storage locker? No other news
Scribe: All set for rouges tavern, all outstanding things accounted for. New scribe person has been showing up. There may be a potential to work together with Wyewood to do scroll stuff.
Webster/Social Media: some new traffic to the FB and discord, links should be on website. Some talks about updating some parts of the website. Send photos if you want them on the Barony Instagram. With lots of changes, there have been talks about other platforms no official word on which direction that will go for the society as a whole. Website is doing just fine, requested updates to graphic has been improved. Should it go on other pages? Has an expense to submit to exchequer
Chronicler: 4th Quarter Report turned in to Kingdom. February Leaf will be uploaded to Baronial website before end of January. Tenure up in May. Talk to Rowena Jade if interested.
GUILD / ACTIVITIES / SERGEANTRY REPORTS
Culinary Guild: Cooking day recently, continuing to work on Transylvania cook book for upcoming feast, we still need an event steward for Nov 1st. We have a site in mind, but must work out pricing, Curia approved Guild fronting the site deposit.
Equestrian: Feb 22nd next practice, we had a display at Ursulmus despite the cold, we had a few folks coming by and showing interest.
Dance: No changes to schedule, but people have been showing up to dance
Socials: In the works for next month
Sergeants: had a good turn-out for chivalry round table. Ursulmus, 12th Night lots of help. Update to resume, candidates work on quests, submit a petition if you are interested in sergeantry.
Events:
- Rogue’s Tavern – February 8, 2025 – kingdom calendar has been updated, event to make garland and food prep on Feb 2nd. Rapier and tabletop games are in the works, Keri-e is working on food, there will be a fire pit and propane warming tent situation for outside. Arts and Sciences and Bardic championship will be happening. Set up will begin early at around 8 if anyone can get there early to help set up, but more help is needed for tear down rather than set up, rough schedule has been worked out. Signup sheet for tear down assistance to be provided at gate.
- Lionhearts – May 31, 2025 – will be held jointly with Wyewood’s Baronial Investiture and Day of Archery at their outdoor (free) site in Kent. Event Stewards are Tim for Wyewood and Jade for Madrone. Brats with the Baronesses – sponsored by the Baronies approved by both Baronesses.
- May Crown (May 16 – 18 in Grandview, WA): Event Team is coming together, but we still have room for more help. Contact Tayla for more details
- Athenaeum – June 28, 2025. Date confirmed as available by site. Event planning meeting will be happening soon. Event will released on Kingdom site soon and then FB.
- Peasants Revel (August, 2025).
- Virtual Athenaeum – May have a person to take on Project Manager role.
Customary- Final draft approved by B&B, accepted by Curia with no additional comment.
