Baronial Awards

The Coronets of Madrone recognize and reward their populace for all the ways the people participate in and contribute to our Barony and our Society, by bestowing awards. You are encouraged to make recommendations when you believe someone should be recognized. Click the button to email the Baron and Baroness.

Awards for Service

  • Green Leaf – recognizes service to the Barony.  The token is a medallion painted or enamelled green in the shape of a leaf of the Arbutus menziesii madrone tree. List of award recipients, click here
  • Mantle of Madrone – recognizing consistent and ongoing service to the Barony, known as “the Mantle” because recipients “have it covered.” Those who receive this recognition are given a shoulder mantle embellished with the badge of the Barony. List of award recipients, click here
  • Red Branch – the Barony’s most ancient and honored award, bestowed in recognition of long-term, outstanding service to the Barony. The recipient receives a medallion painted or enamelled with the badge of the Red Tree of Madrone, a heraldic Arbutus menziesii madrone tree. List of award recipients, click here
  • Poisson d’Or – the Golden Fish, given to recognize and honor those who help others develop or research a persona, to enhance the fun of learning and participating. The recipient is given a depiction of a golden fish created in a media appropriate to the recipient. List of award recipients, click here
  • Porte Chalice – given once per year to a gentle of the Canton of Port de l’Eau who has best exemplified the Canton’s ideals of service and hospitality. The token is a pottery chalice (cup) with the badge of the Canton, bestowed by the Baroness and Baron on behalf of the people of the Canton. List of award recipients, click here.

Martial Awards

  • Etoile – “a star”. Bestowed for excellence in martial activities including supporting the ability of others to participate in martial activity. The recognition is an appropriate item stitched or painted with a golden star. List of award recipients, click here
  • Gwraidd – pronounced “Graith.” The Coronets of Madrone elevate persons to this elite order for their skill, leadership, and outstanding efforts in promoting the various martial activities in our Barony. A braided garter of green, red, and white is given to the recipient to wear in recognition of their contributions and example. List of award recipients, click here.

Arts & Sciences Awards – Tsveti Madrone

“White Flower of Madrone” was created by Baroness Anastasia in XXVII (1993) to recognize excellence in arts and/or sciences. Tsveti can be awarded multiple times. The token is a triangular medallion with three blossoms, from which colored beads are appended to denote accomplishment(s) being recognized.

Semi-retired Award

Light of St. Bunstable – an award for the College of St. Bunstable (when there is an SCA club on the University of Washington campus) to a gentle of the College of St. Bunstable whose service to the College in the past year stands above all others. The members of the College made their recommendations known to a neutral party, and the award is presented by the Baron and Baroness on behalf of the people of the College.
