Saturday weather conditions update posted April 14:
The Baronial leadership encourages everyone to wear masks inside when not eating or drinking. Hand sanitation will be available.
Their Excellencies of Madrone seek good gentles who shine as beacons of the best of the Barony to compete for champion in armored, and in rapier combat. By display of prowess, chivalry, and joy in the martial arts, competitors will vie for selection by the noble Baron and Baroness to take on the mantles of Champions for these combat skills.
The event will also host the Madrone Bardic Championship, where among many shining beacons of bardic arts, one can do best on that day and win the honor of Bardic Champion of Madrone.
If you are interested in competing for the Heavy, Rapier, or Bardic championships at the Rogue Tavern, there is no letters of intent, but competitors need to swear an oath at invocation and, if victorious, swear oath of office. You must be a current member of the SCA, represent your art or martial skill and Madrone positively and attend event to choose successor.
There will also be gaming, live music, dancing, pick up fights/tavern brawls (rapier and heavy armor), silly contests, and merriment. There will be a fire to gather ’round and warm yourselves. Bring a sunshade/rainshade and a chair to sit to watch the activities outdoors; also bring plates and cups and other things needed for eating and drinking.
Light boxed dinners and hot drinks are provided. Additional snacks and treats can be purchased.
The event will have masking and social distancing practices as appropriate. The site is discretely wet. Please keep to period containers, be reasonable and legal in your consumption.
This event replaces the Madrone Arts, Sciences, & Bardic Competition originally reserved on this date.
All current (at the time of the event) King County, WA and An Tir COVID guidelines will be followed, which may include pre-registration, proof of COVID vaccination or negative test, indoor masks, and COVID tracing information.
