Youth Armored Combat Practice

Postponed activity

Youth Armored Combat Practice did not take place during pandemic sheltering and has not officially re-started.

Activity Description

This youth program is for children age 6 to 17 years old. We use lacrosse helmets with a face grill, a cup for groin protection, padded gloves, sports knee, shin and elbow pads. Please bring whatever gear your child currently has, make sure they wear closed toe shoes and let the coordinator know if they will need some or all loaner armor. The coordinator is tasked to bring swords, shields and whatever loaner armor is requested in advance.

All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian or bring a signed minor consent to participate form.

We spend the first 20 minutes reviewing some of the ABCs while the kids armor up and then spend the next 30 to 50 minutes practicing in armor. Kids without armor are free to participate using foam swords (called Public Participation Weapons, or PPW). After that we will strip armor and take a break before letting them loose with the PPWs until they wear themselves out or need to go home!

Younger kids are free to participate using PPWs provided they have active parental participation.

It is advised to contact the Youth Armored Combat officer with age and size of youth needing loaner armor.
